Wow the Barking and Dagenham Post's photos of the event were stunning. The headline shot is of 10 feet of flame roaring from the muzzle of a cannon and flames bursting from the touch hole. The cannon master of Castratees (it blew its nuts off on the first firing) had the biggest cannon master's grin as he and cannon left the ground. Mr Cool Stef did his stuff over a hot forge in the blazing sun while others were encasing a small children in armour.

And wild celebration after the battle in the beer tent or round the campfire into the small hours. Dad wants to fight while mum shows her 17th century civilian skills to a curious public? We can make it happen. Where are kids? In period costume around camp they have 100s of aunts and uncles looking out for their welfare. With the other children on camp they find their own amusement.
